A matrimonial duel in one act. God of Carnage is a play by Yasmina Reza that was first published in 2008 in French. The Hungarian translation is credited to Róbert Bognár. The Play is about two sets of parents; the son of one couple has hurt the son of the other couple at a public park. The four parents meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner, arrange what needs to be arranged, and jointly think about what needs to be done. But it turns out that they are no better than their children. However, as the evening goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, and the meeting devolves into chaos. Their conversation exposes the petty-bourgeois hypocrisy deep-rooted in our society's relationship system. It is a full-bodied comedy about the lack of honesty, prejudices, and resentment.
