It has been 25 years since we first organized our festival in 1998. For years it’s been a featured annual series of programs in Veszprém’s cultural life, and a qualified festival of the Hungarian Festival Federation. At the beginning it presented the first all-contemporary line-up of performing artists in Hungary, this characteristic feature is still present in the festival’s programme.
It has a very strong multi-artistic aspect as well, with contemporary dance serving as an invitation for other genres, such as photography, music, fine arts, filmmaking and in later years, light art. The focal point of the festival is the competitive programme, assembled by the pre-jury process of the artistic director.
The artistic diversity of the presented productions is a great opportunity for contemporary artists to get in touch with the citizens of Veszprém and the surrounding region, and to gain national and international recognition. When creating the festival programme, our main goals are to present the works of internationally renowned dance companies, well-known and well-liked Hungarian contemporary dancers, and let the new generation of creators supported by the Zoltán Imre Programme show themselves.
