For the ninth time, the János Kótsi Patkó Qualifying Student Theatre Festival will be organized by the Municipal Cultural Centre and Library of Derecske between 2-4 June 2023, as part of the 10th International Theatre Olympics.
The János Kótsi Patkó Qualifying Student Theatre Festival started in 2008 with the aim of providing a friendly and professional meeting place for theatre groups from Bihor County in Hungary and Bihor County in Romania, and the range of participating student theatre groups is now much wider. The initiative was a missing link, as at that time there was no amateur arts meeting of this kind within a 100-kilometre radius. The major cross-border event takes place every two years.
The prestige of this year's festival is also reflected in the jury of renowned and recognised theatre professionals.
The programme of the three-day festival will be extended and enriched with acting workshops, where acting students and their artistic directors can participate in various courses.
