Budapest will play host to the 10th Theatre Olympics, a festival taking place from 1st April – 1st July.

The 2023 Olympiad is a particularly responsible, post-traumatic Theatre Olympics, because it reflects the experience of a fracture not only in world harmony, but also in the theatrical fracture. 
On 15 April, the 10th International Theatre Olympics officially kicked off with a series of opening events in Budapest, featuring a variety of events, artist productions, concerts and street theatre performances.

Theater Olympics 2023 also commemorates the work of the famous Hungarian writer, Imre Madách, who was born 200 years ago, on January 20, 1823.

Theodoros Terzopoulos, one of the founders of the Theatre Olympics, sent the following message to the Hungarian organisers of the event of the world theatre. 
200 companies from 35 countries will come to Hungary between 1st April and 1st July 2023 for the 10th International Theatre Olympics.
