Synopsis

In this poetic performance of the Urartu Armenian Theater staged in 2023, the most beautiful writings of Armenian love poetry come to life in a dramatised way, which are the works of one of the first ashiks, medieval poet Nahapet Kucsak.

The Armenian hairens are short poems, four lines of couplets with a single coherent theme, which were written in the Middle Ages. These were the most popular verse forms of the 13th and 14th century that follow the dynamics of folk songs.

This performance is made up of transcriptions of these poems and today's modern hairens, which are considered to be special in today’s age and time, and can now be heard and seen by the public in this form for the first time. The love poems were woven into motives of dance by the creators of the play, whit some of them weaved into songs with modern instrumentation, heard with musical accompaniment.
