We do not know of any other country in the world where minority communities nurturing other ethnic cultures can be present for a whole week in the National Theatre of their capital.
In the light of world events, it is more important than ever to give performing artists and performing arts institutions of the 13 nationalities in Hungary the opportunity to perform together once again and join their audiences in a theater celebration.
With the support of the Government of Hungary and the National Theatre of Hungary, 13 minorities of Hungary can use the beautiful building for the sixth time this year to present the latest works of their theaters.
Organized by the Serbian Theatre in Hungary, with the professional support of the Hungarian Minority Theater Association and the Hungarian Theater Society, the audience can see Serbian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Romani, Greek, Armenian, Slovak and German performances year after year, mostly in their mother tongue, with Hungarian subtitles, and participate in workshops and see actor portraits.
The JELEN/LÉT Festival, organised with the support of the Prime Minister's Office and Cultural and Innovation Ministry, is a key gathering of Hungarian ethnic theaters at the National Theatre, which takes place within the framework of the 10th Theater Olympics and whose program is included in the official events of the Olympics.
