King Richard III is a play of epic proportions, complex in its genealogical labyrinths, demanding not only because of the intricate dramaturgical spiral and layered relationships, but also because of the emotional trap the English Bard set up for us.
We are led through the events by a character (anti-hero) whose actions are anything but moral, yet his cunning is so seductive, his insight so devastating that we are forced to follow him on his journey and observe the events through his eyes (as well).

Aleksandar Popovski was born in 1969 in Skopje, Macedonia. He graduated in theater and film directing at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius. With his films he participated in festivals in Stockholm, Barcelona, Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Dresden, Zurich, Calcutta, Belgrade, Palm Beach, Palm Springs, Cottbus, Troms, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Celje, Milan, Stuttgart...; he was awarded at festivals in Helsinki, New York, Brussels, Rome...
In the theater, he directed for the first time in 1992., Dejan Dukovski's text "The Giant and the Seven Dwarfs". After that he directs Lorca, Popovski and Mitrevsky, Harms, Koltes, Stefanovski, Vencelj and Popovski by Cervantes, Stoker, Chekhov, Büchner, Shakespeare, Biljana Srbljanović, McDonagh, Moliere, Ana Lasić, Slavko Grum, Voltaire, Milena Marković, Strindberg, Hampton, Bulgakov, Mayakovsky... Popovski staged his plays in Macedonia, Croatia, Denmark, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, Sweden, Greece, Austria, Turkey...
He is the winner of numerous awards and recognitions for his work, among which we single out three Sterija awards, the "Ardalion" award, the "Golden Laughter" award... In the City Drama Theater "Gavella" Aleksandar Popovski has so far directed three plays: Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream ", as written - "one of the most played and most awarded plays in the history of this theater", "Peer Gynt" by Henrik Ibsen and "Antigone" by Jean Anouilh.
