The human is a social creature but most of the time it’s still lonely. It has a strong need to be loved and to be connected.
No need to be deny but the our communication methods changed, it’s moved to the untouchable world of the internet. And if we test our wings and claws at online "dating places" in connection with matchmaking, the comfort provided by online platforms quickly turns to the reverse. No matter if anyone feels that they are braver, they become whoever they want to be, no matter if they seem more confident, edgy and "take it like sugar", looking each other in the eye is another task. Perhaps we ourselves already believe that our beautified self online is the reality, but we don't know what to do with our everyday lives. We try with all our might to hide that it's all just a (self) illusion, yet everything becomes more and more empty.
In the end, everyone is lonely. And perhaps most of all the one who, sitting behind a screen, between two hashtags, two filters and two emojis, thinks that the world belongs to him. More than anything, we long for real,to be connected offline, but yet, we experience never-before-known depths of loneliness every day. It's a vicious circle that we are aware of it and no matter how hard we try we can't completely break away from this universe. Yet, we can still focus on what's really important. Hashtag MeTime, Hashtag I’mfeelinggood, HashtagPositiveVibes, HashtagCarpeDiem... if we manage to experience this in the real world instead of the hashtag galaxy, than maybe we can see how counterproductive the contradiction of our actions and desires is.
Árpád Tóth actor-director was born on December 20, 1979 in Székelyudvarhely. In 2002 he was successfully admitted to the University of Performing Arts in Marosvásárhely, in the class of Dr. Ibolya Farkas - Aba Sebestyén.
In addition to the head teachers, he can work with such great masters as the worthy artist Lóránd Lohinszky, the composer József Hencz, the theater esthetician Dr. András Béres, etc. During his university years, he played several times as an invited artist at the Figura Stúdió Theater in Gyergyószentmiklós.
After graduating in theater, he worked as a freelancer for a few years, performing in several theaters, while also workingon successfull projects at Erdély Fm (radio station at Marosvásárhely) like Popsuli, which provided young bands from Transylvania with the opportunity to perform on stage, to beon air and record songs. During this period, he also participated in the Hungarian broadcast of Romanian Television, including the youth program Hűbelebalázs.
In 2008, he was successfully admitted to the master's program of the Marosvásárhely University of Arts, majoring in contemporary theater direction, graduating in 2010. In this period, he organized several successful exam performances under the guidance of masters such as: Anca Bradu, Csaba Kiss, Dr. Levente Kovács, István Kövesdy, Gábor Kerényi-Miklós, Miklós Parászka, Judit Dobre, etc.
The Mesél a bécsi erdő (Ödön von Horváth), the Nők iskolája (Moliere), the Szentivánéji álom (Szakcsi-Siámi-Kero: worldmusical), Platonov (A.P. Chekhov), etc., are exam performances which determined the subsequent directing in an unusual way.
From the spring of 2009, he started working both as an actor and director at the Tomcsa Sándor Theater in Székelyudvarhely, where he is still active. As an actor, he’s constantly receiving tasks, but at the same time, his productions are gaining more and more attention and emphasis in the circles of the audience and the profession.
Between 2012-2015, he become the director of the Székelyföldi Legendárium cartoon series. This is a decisive period in his work, as he practically learns the basics of 3D cartoon production. The first four parts of the series were completed during this period: A Likaskő, A Rétyi nír, Babba Mária, A Táltosasszony.
In addition to his work at home, he is happy to collaborate with other theaters as a director. In 2012 Fedél nélkül (performance of Marosvásárhely National Theater and Yorick Studio: based on Janusz Glowacki: Antigone in New York), or 2019 Megtorlás (I.L. Caragial, studio performance) at Csíkijátékszín, in 2022 Love Me (studio performance, based on Kata Györfi's writing "Love me tinder") at the Udvartér Teatrum, Kézdivásárhely or most recently, also in 2022, Portugál (pub theater performance based on the work of Zoltán Egressy) at Figura Stúdió Theater, Gyergyószentmiklós.
Apart from being in the theater, music has always been a defining part of his life. He has been working as a disc jockey for more than 10 years, and at the same time, he has also been active as a singer in a local alternative band, Sztereogám. Currently, he is the singer and bassist the Actor's Dzsem Session, a band by the company members of Tomcsa Sándor Színház.
