"His face was quite old, but the way he walked, you could tell he was only in his early twenties. He sat down next to them on the bench, with the face of an old man. He was holding a clock in his hand. It had stopped..."
What was that journey home from the war front? Is the home you discovered still home? Could death after such experiences, according to the writer Wolfgang Borchert, be quite bearable? The Hour 00 distinguishes the horrific past and the present. In this presence, man doesn't know where to go and what awaits him. The play's protagonist perseveres in his search for his place in a post-war world where the paradise of everyday life no longer exists.
