“Painted Skin” is an experimental dance drama with songs, live music, dance with a dramatic plot.
Inspired by a story entitled “Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio” written in Qing dynasty. The Painted Skin is about traps and temptations in life.
Wang Sheng is a scholar who married happily recently. He goes away for a few days for a gathering with friends to paint and to compose poetry. On his way home, he meets a young lady who is crying sadly. She tells Wang him that her step brother and sister in law have been forcing her to become a prostitute and she has no choice but to escape from the house.
Wang is sympathetic and suggest to her to go to his house temporarily as it seems that a thunder storm is in the making…
