Nannie Brambles lives with Carpet, her basset hound « who hates children». Leopold is sent outside by his grandmother to take a breath of fresh air and clear out the thickets swarming with brambles.
He hears snickering … and scratches himself ! When night falls , Nannie Brambles prepares a soup… …a nettle soup ! Fear and its chimeras hide within the shade of the scratching and thorny brambles.
Where to find consolation when you’re six years old and your grandmother terrifies you ? A shadow puppet theatre that keeps the spectators sitting on the edge of their seats.
Moquette, he’s the incredible companion of Mamie Ronce. On four robust legs, a cigar perched on his lips, he is also a very rigorous producer-manager, exclusively producing the shadow puppet shows of Theodora Ramaekers, Virginie Gardin et Jean-Luc Millot.
In 2012 Moquette spotted these three in the Collective “Boites a clous” in Brussels. He immediately smelled the potential and ordered the show “Mange tes ronces”, which took particularly long to create considering the life-span of a basset hound.
In any event the show is ready, and it needs administration, managed with an iron hand. As he has a lot of experience and his 3 protégés still have a lot of things to tell, Moquette creates Moquette Production. (Never call it a company, otherwise you can watch out for your legs). In Moquette, what you’ll find is offbeat, full of energy even when it’s early, simple, rough, and shines a ray of light on childhood. You’ll never find any pixels or local accents.
